Game Play Time
Perhaps in the second book it might be possible to show how long the character has played rather than (or in addition to) how long the user has played. Although it is interesting to note how long I have been "on-line," so to speak with a character, that total time fails to account for me l...

Skills, Gold, and Travel Requirements
After scrutinizing the many helpful suggestions and hints in these forums, I decided to try to create an effective character by using the minimum skill points. For example, I had the archery instructor in Bordertown teach my character Level One Bow skill for 100 gold rather than select that skill an...

Thanks! I'll give that a shot this coming week.

Traveling with Eschalon
I travel for a week or so at a time, and would like to be able to take a current Eschalon game with me. Obviously the easiest solution is to play the game exclusively on my Mac Book Pro while at home and away, but I prefer to play on my 24-inch iMac at home given the larger screen and my aging eyes....

Re: food
Another compromise I like is making food/water optional via a difficulty setting at the start of the game. There are going to be other "challenge" settings that can be set at the start of the game which cannot be changed after the game begins. Food and Water requirements could be one of t...

Thanks. I have the paper bag over my head for penance.Kreador Freeaxe wrote: In Aridell, ask the bartender about the drunk in the corner. Follow the "nice guy" path from there.

Re: character creation help
Can a level 1 character do the cartography quest. I am one of those who believe that automap should be automatic so I really don't like the idea of having to waste points on something that should be standard. Sorry to be off topic here, not to mention appear totally clueless, but I guess I have mis...

Re: Excellent post on Quarter To Three
The comments on piracy and gaming software reflect some of the key challenges to game development. I may be way off mark here, but I think Basilisk is doing the right thing by offering a truncated version of the game as a free demo. That obviates the argument "I want a pirated copy to play so I...

Re: COMPLETE SPELL LIST (Possible Spoilers)
This list is very helpful, thanks! Is there any way to determine the time remaining for a spell? I know that spell duration is a function of turns and level of caster, but in melee or whilst wandering about or otherwise distracted I don't keep track of turns expended. I could imagine a caster at lea...

Re: Notice about spoilers (no spoilers here)
In several other threads we had used white text in a quote box to cover up a spoiler. Well, with our new theme, quotes are nearly black, so that means any old thread with a spoiler in white text is no longer blocked out! I'll try to correct them as I find them. In the future, any new spoile...

A smooth transfer. I like what I see (great colors, format, ease of use) and look forward to more time wisely spent in the forums.

I believe a weapon or armour can be empowered only once. Whatever magic goes into it restructures the metal so that it can't accept any more magic. So, if you find something worth putting a '+' into, wait until you can do a +3 (the currant high) to do it. :D Basilisk might have a different reason t...

Imbuing Weapons and Armor Limits
My character had a total alchemy level of 13, including two Brewmaster rings. I imbued a sword to +2 to hit and +2 damage, and did the same with a bow. On my next level up, I used 2 points to increase my total alchemy level to 15 with the intention of raising the sword to +3 to hit and +3 damage (an...

Like many others who've posted, I have both. I started playing this on a PPC Mini, migrated it to an Intel 24-inch iMac, and keep the adventure going when I'm on the road around the world on my new Intel Mac Book Pro. Eschalon works great on all of them, even the Mini. The disc works great, too. Tha...
