I accidentally learned the portcullis trick in the first dungeon, and giggled maniacally. It came in handy again with the raptors. You get less XP, but it's very, very satisfying.

I really liked knowing that I could run back along paths I'd already cleared to get away from aggro. I'm the kind of player who pushes the limits of what they can actually do at their level, so being able to methodically clear space--and know that it's safe behind me--is something I valued. Be careful with the chest in Bordertown by the forge. I used it for days until the smith got too close, and he "witnessed a crime!" when I tried to get my stuff out. Easily fixed by taking a nap in the woods and using the resulting goblins to lure him back out of sight of the chest, but st...
