Well ... to make it even more difficult ... for those who want "fog" ... how 'bout parts of the map, that shows what you've explored, have a chance of disappearing if the map gets wet?
Walk through a stream, or stay out in the rain ... and parts of your map "run".

Re: D&D/AD&D current game?
Traveller doesn't ring a bell ... but it's been a couple decades. I think it also had a strategic spaceship battle component. So if your characters were in a ship, the "DM" could make you part of some fleet battles. OR what normally happened to us ... we were in a scout/picket ship a...

Re: D&D/AD&D current game?
My parents wouldn't let my brother and I play D&D ... so we snuck over to play it at the neighbor's house. Though, for some reason, it was okay to play D&D type games on the computer - just not PnP versions. However, I think my parents knew we were playing D&D at friends' houses. ...

Re: Being a solo gamer in a multiplayer world
As an aside, I heard that WoC were setting up some sort of online service which allowed people to effectively run PnP games online - so they offer a live map service and chat room, and also presumably hold your character sheets and whatever else, but other than that it's all just a way for people t...

Re: Regeneration of Monsters
That's pretty similar to how the Oblivion mod I used worked. IE; a certain dungeon was the "province" of vampires. With a low-level character, you definitely didn't want to go there! But at some higher level, you began to ponder the possibility of attempting it. And when your level got hig...

Re: Regeneration of Monsters
My suggestion would be for the program to check your level and regenerate monsters that would be somewhat of a challenge to the character. Rather than respawn 15 1 level monters, maybe spawn three 5 level or 1 15th level monster in a region. Gods, no! "Scaled" monsters was THE MOST compla...

Re: Obama's comittment to global nuclear disarmament
On the government's responsibilities: While I think we can all agree that we don't want the government baby-sitting us (including telling us who can marry whom, and so forth), as far as I understand it, the purpose of a nation's government is to ensure the safety, health, prosperity and well-being ...

Re: Obama or McCain?
Let's see ... who helped McCain win the primary? Oh, that's right. The party leaders and mainstream media ... because they said that McCain was the only "real" choice the Republicans had. Now the same people are telling conservative voters they better vote McCain, 'cause he's the only &quo...

Re: Obama or McCain?
Change from within does not work, when the "lifers" and "career politicians" ignore the base. Why is Palin so popular with the Republican base? Because they are desperate for someone to (figuratively) knock McCain upside the head and remind him who his base is. When you ignore yo...

Re: Obama or McCain?
What has been said time and time again about this to those following third parties is to vote for those persons within the party closest to your ideals that have the same ideas as you and/or that third party. So if you were liking Ron Paul, then vote for McCain i nthis election and then in your loc...

Re: Obama or McCain?
As to the situation between Russia and Georgia ... I think a lot of people are overlooking a couple items that may have contributed to it. (A) We have an agreement to install part of our anti-missile defense system in Georgia. Russia doesn't want that. In fact, Russia doesn't want us to build an ant...

Re: Obama or McCain?
NEITHER. Those who fall for Obama's "change" line are naive. How can you believe he'll "change" anything, when he keeps spouting the same Democrat promises? I've heard the argument against voting for McCain because of Palin's inexperience. That seems ironic on two counts. First, ...

Re: I would pay money for a Eschalon adventure editor...
Morrowind and Oblivion both have large modding communities. Though (IMO) it looks like there, players' first attraction to modding was to improve the games - turning them into what players thought they should have been in the first place.
Not as much an issue with Eschalon, IMO.

YAY!BasiliskWrangler wrote:The Book II CD will only contain Book II, but it will most likely have all three versions (PC/Mac/Linux) on the disc.
I think all games should be sold to run off the "major" OS. Why should I have to buy a new copy, if I decide to switch from a PC to a Mac or Linux (or vise-versa)?
