Start with heading south and look for a security key in one of the containers. Then go east and north once you are at the southeast part of the map. The it's west once you get to the northeast corner. To finally get to the part you want there is a pressure plate in the center of the room that has do...

Spiderweb games have those neat biting comments in item descriptions and some dialog choices. Jeff is quite willing to lead you down a useless path or face a moral dilemma.

Hide in shadows of about 5 seems to be a good point.

There are places with lamp stands that can't be extinguished to prevent hide in shadows from completely being over abused. Still running a rogue with cats eyes in the demo shows how much easier this is than a straight fighter. Nightfall is fun.

Since you only need 10 Int or Wis to be able to use first tier spells, having more than 14 for the spell class at the start isn't as useful as raising perception to restore mana faster. Also it helps you find traps so you don't have to reload or heal from them.

I remember seeing that you can run Basilisk II (no relation to this website) to run older Mac software on Intel based Macs. The link I had isn't there since it's been a year. There are emulators that you can run to make your computer act like an older system.

It may be a random generated treasure container.

I tried the open barrel next to Paul (Salted Coast) when he said I could have what was there. The first four times was nothing and then 10 coins.

Posted this in the regular Eschalon

Turn off your torch to reduce the salamander's chance of hitting you and run for the stairs. Use Tab key to display their positions.

Increase perception for a few levels to increase the rate of mana return and make it easier to detect traps. You will need it later on when you really burn through spells anyway.

Books are somewhat random, but certain ones appear in each area more often.

It might help to know what type of character you are running. Fanged salamanders only have about 10 health so most beginning characters can kill them. I'm guessing that you can't do much damage. Try looking at the map/route out, turn off your torch and run for the stairs. Use the grid (Tab key) to k...

I'm in my third year with my iBook G4 and hope to keep it for a couple more years. I'm not sure if it will be able to run Book II with only 32 MB on its graphics card.

I guess I'll have to see if I upgrade when Book II appears.

Still haven't found any way around barrel bashing. Having to reload to determine fixed items and truly empty ones is a pain.

I'm in favor of generate all the loot at the start of a map section. This evens it out in that you have to decide if the overall value and types of items is worth replaying a whole section. When it's a solid block of a few hours as opposed to several smaller blocks that add up to more time, most peo...

If you don't mind reloading than one lock pick and one level of lockpicking skill is all you need. The experience does add up at the start if you are patient. It really depends upon your style of playing and whether you really want to do locks of reloads. There are some doors that will still open to...

You still need more for renovations since most of the interior is removed. I did see someone had bought one for a home a few years ago.
