It could be it requires a higher level of Java. I am using OS X 10.3.9, which I think has a max level of Java of 1.4.2.

One thing you should check, especially for the Mac version, is the iMac and eMac fixed resolutions, and make sure whatever you choose falls into one of the fixed options allowed for them.

Although the page loads, all I get in the game area is a grey box with a little red X in the upper left corner. I tried Firefox and Safari. Is your game Mac compatible?

What does work, sometimes, though, is to allow you to play through the game again with the same character, but all the monsters and traps are tougher, and the rewards and items are better. Diablo II does this.

Or, just let you pick your difficulty level. Many games do this successfully.
