Another simple way to fix it would be to add to the object a "rank", rating from 1 to 10, "1" being for the weakest items, until "10" for the most powerful ones. A barrel containing random treasure would contain a "rank 1" object, which would be rolled randoml...

Re: any modern dungeon master clones/remakes?

ive played all the classics to death (bloodwych, dungeon master, eye of the beholder, lands of lore etc. etc.) There is an extensive list of these games in one of the topics (don't recall which :( ) Maybe you should try to search some old amiga games to play with the winUAE emulator (black crypt co...

16 or 32 bit doesn't change anything for me (at least for the demo). I haven't tried openGL.

I second that ;)

I've played Grimoire, but much older 98 beta demo version.
Can this old demo version be found somewhere ?

1024/768 is the resolution I use (and that I'll still be using in the foreseable future), so OK for it.

It's funny- people request more and more realism in RPGs, and what you just described sounds very real to me: you find an object, sell it, and later regret getting rid of it. I don't think any "storyline critical" objects can be sold or dropped, however minor quest objects can be. ...

Hmmmm.
You see, I'd like at least some new screenshots, a demo, something like that... A webpage where you just can do... *nothing* is not a heartening prospect.
And no mistake, I'd really love to see this game finished.

I'll answer this when I've played EB1 (not much free time at the moment  ).
However I'd LOOOOOVE to get a new EOB/Wizardry/MM-style game...
But yes, the fact that it's a trilogy means it'd be better to keep it isometric.

Party based for me. "Hybrid". The best would be like in the EOB series where you could choose 4 characters, and have 2 more NPCs to join when you met them if you wished. So you can create your own party, and have cool NPCs with personal side quests (Ã la Baldur's gate). One of the first 4 ...

That could potentially ruin the game : too easy a way of making you filthy rich, or having the best items of the game in multiples...
And duplicating important items or quest items could possibly bring bugs or crashes (an object still in the inventory when it shouldn't anymore...)

Re: Why F3?

There are a few obvious exploits most of the ones I noticed have already been mentioned, but there's also the ability to 'save' right before examining the contents of a barrel/chest/whatever. Only a few chests etc have fixed items inside, so if you don't like what you see.. you can just reload and ...

Ditto. Many games work like that.
