Thanks Per. Beagle eradicated. I don't use Compiz/Beryl, namely because my Intel Integrated Graphics doesn't really do much with it. I'm on a Twinhead, Durabook, 1.6GHz, 1GB Ram, Intel Integrated Graphics with 256MB of memory (shared). Next time I'll be buying something with a little more oomph...

Okay, Sound sometimes works... So I can get sound if I close and reopen the game until it makes that noise... (thank god you gave the launch menu sound or I would never know). *Update III* I switched off all my virtual desktops and limited myself to only 2 but it doesn't make any difference. Outside...

*Update* I closed Firefox (and the 165 tabs I had open) and that fixed the sound. It runs slightly faster now, but it's still sluggish (by sluggish I mean unplayable sluggish). So we're getting there. I'll play about with closing things down at this end to see if there's anything running that might...

The Demo runs, but no sound and it runs very slow in comparison to the windows version. I'm using openSuse 10.2 I couldn't find any information about why the sound isn't running. I ran it from the command line to see if it would leave any messages but nothing... I closed down the usual culprits as w...

The pirates just take out the DRM. It's only the genuine customers who suffer with DRM. I'm amazed that there are actually users fighting to have DRM put in their games. Don't complain then when all the DRM in windows vista bites you in the a**. Carry on.

Please, oh skill master, help me change career. Let me forget my terrible education in Psychology, let it be purged from my mind; the whole shebang, every last day of the degree, in favour of skills in the art of cookery so that I might follow in the footsteps of Jamie Oliver. Oh help me oh skill ma...

Actually, as I understand it, spiders don't usually index pages with ? in the URL. So that's not likely to work. I think I'd agree with trying to work out a cross-advertising deal with Spiderweb. Something like, "Finished with Book I? Can't wait for Book II? Try Avernum 5 to tide you over!&quo...

I see from screenshots of Avernum 5 that Jeff's added pillars that are at a different angle from the rest of the game so it looks as if they are not quite sitting right and about to topple over. Man I had just decided to buy Avernum 5 when it comes out for windows to satisfy my RPG cravings until Bo...

How can we get some Spiderweb fans to take a look at Eschalon, without going to Spiderweb's forums and trolling the game? I know last year someone mentioned Eschalon there...and later the thread mysteriously disappeared. If we have a discussion about Spiderweb and Avernum, then those words would be...

I would also like to offer my apologies to Basilisk Wrangler because I am partially to blame for derailing his intention for the thread. So sorry you guys. I did not realize at the time but I see it now. I certainly admire the honesty of the appeal and they are right in that the discussion is best l...

Hey guys! Let's make super secret content not for pirates. They probably won't even find it, but if they do I bet they'll fell real guilty about it! You got me wrong, there'd be a forum especially for game owners, there can still be a forum to support the demo! + you get to see who bought the game ...

Actually DRM is very easily stripped, and it is only the legitimate users suffer. But, I think Basilisk have gone the right way by relying on good old common decency and trust. There's a company called Baen books which publishes sci-fi novels, and faced this very same choice when moving into the dig...

Actually, I think the reason religion implicates sex as a bad thing, is primarily because people are biologically wired towards the opposite; (they want/need it) therefore, if they believe the priests, their very nature will drive them towards conflict - this conflict brings them back to the priest ...
