The first page just shows the results, no link to voting. I vote Neither in any case.

How does one vote in a poll? I don't know if I'm just dense, or if the option never comes up. I'm logged in.

Except that in Fallout everyone would buy everything. It's very convenient, but not what you'd call realistic. I still don't think every gameplay object should have a cash (or barter) value. It makes it too easy for the PC to get rich quick. Another endemic problem in RPG's is what to spend your mon...

Was Morrowind's system different from Oblivion?

In Oblivion, each merchant had a fixed maximum he would pay for any given object. Thus, you could still sell 20 suits of leather armor to the armorer, for a maximum of 800gp each.

working economy vs. realism

Typically fans of the "old school" demand their opponents drop every bit of equipment they use, from armor to weapons to hats, cloaks, whatever. In TOEE, they even dropped boots and gloves, worthless accoutrements good for nothing but dress up. Fallout also had every opponent drop his gun ...

You didn't really address Gallifrey's point about tougher opponents. I presume, in your original model, the PC receives less and less damage as he progresses? Or gets hit less and less often?

It does sound more awkward than the traditional method of awarding more hp as you go.

I don't know about slowdowns since I never had any problems running the game, but Circle of Eight has released several mods, the first bunch to correct quest and rule issues, then many more that added content, NPC's, even new areas. I'd definitely check out what they've done if you're going to reins...

Ditto. I'd like to see more mystery in dungeons, strange s*** going down, bizarre characters, talking monsters, creepy stuff like you used to get in D&D modules and games like Phantasie. Temple of Elemental Evil captured that a bit. There was an organization in the temple with competing factions...

Nice screeg! Are those pre-rendered scenes or realtime? What's the project "Keep on the Borderlands"? They're pre-rendered to use as backgrounds in a total conversion of Temple of Elemental Evil. This project is actually pretty far along now, with a playable demo comprising more than half...

RPGDot is my goto place for RPG news, and their readers definitely support classic RPG's. If you watch RPGDot at all, you'll notice that the developer of indie game Dungeon Delvers usually posts what progress they're making every week or two: technical progress, art progress, programming, whatever. ...

I agree with Grayth on the "no food" side. I also fall in with the unwashed masses in doubting it would add any fun to the experience. A good RPG usually has a ton of stats and equipment to track. Echelon even includes ingredient based alchemy. I think that's great. But adding in mundane r...

Advertising Echelon

I've been watching this game closely, as I'm sure many people are. One way in which indie games often crash after publication and suffer ignoble, unprofitable deaths is the absence of an adequate budget for advertising. I get the impression that most indie developers see they have about 100 hardcore...
