I've often thought it was pretty strange that there's no random Taurax encounters in Amireth. A few of my characters would have had a harder time down there, were it not possible to camp out without fear of being disturbed.

'Camp Encounters'?... Being disturbed by a drag queen; now THAT would be a Camp Encouter!

Yeah, what's interesting about this list is not so much what you encounter while camping (though that kind of info is certainly useful for XP-, or even food-, farming...).

What I find interesting about this list is the sheer number of maps where there is no camping encounters, despite the fact that the following maps likely should allow for camp encounters:
  • Raven's Gate, East Entrance - should probably be Red Wolves
  • Port Kuudad Sewers(!?!) - I amazed this one map doesn't have random encounters! Bonebitters and Black Molds would be the obvious choices...
  • Farrock Caves, Level 1 - Phase Hunters (and possibly Bonebitters) seem like obvious choices
  • Interpool Dam - should be Rats and Molds(?)
  • The Convent's Well - again, Rats and Bonebitters seem like obvious choices
  • all of Amerith - obviously Taurax (Scouts), and possibly Brimestone Spiders
But, yeah - it seems like too many Book II maps don't provide for random camping encounters. I find that... odd.

Hmmm... I smell a (relatively simple and easy) Book II Mod coming up for someone!!!

Also some of these are odd because they include creatures that aren't otherwise found on the map in question, particularly Bonebiters that aren't found above ground at all otherwise.

They're just attracted to all the trash you leave lying around your campsite, you pig. :)

Rift harpies are just plain wicked! Their screech could kill my mage in a couple of attacks. But I love them. North Harpoon Bay was my Training grounds.

And, continuing today's 'theme', here's a list of maps that don't have camping encounters, and some that should along with suggestions (again, all IMO, of course!):

Places that don't have 'camp encounters', but likely should (along with suggestions):

Code: Select all

The Convent's Well [Bonebiter] [Black Mold]
Ironpool Dam, Lower Level [Bonebiter] [Black Mold]
Port Kuudad Sewers [Bonebiter] [Black Mold]
Farrock Caves, Level 1 [Bonebiter] [Phase Hunter]
Raven's Gate, East Entrance [Red Wolf] [Devilmander]
Brimstone Lava Fields [Brimstone Spider] [Brimstone Spider]
Places that don't have 'camp encounters', but maybe(?) should:

Code: Select all

Fathamurk, Sunderius ? ?
Fathamurk, Abyssius ? ?
Fathamurk, Onyxium ? ?
Picaroon Isle ? ?
Thundersun Grazelands [Taurax Scout?] [Taurax Spearmaster?]
Ghar-gha River [Taurax Scout?] [Taurax Spearmaster?]
Southern Thundersun Grazelands [Taurax Scout?] [Taurax Spearmaster?]
Places that don't have 'camp encounters', and probably shouldn't:

Code: Select all

Cape Sorrow X X
The Guild of Crius Vindica X X
Lorewitch, Level 1 X X
Lorewitch, Level 2 X X
Lorewitch, Level 3 X X
Port Kuudad X X
Lockston Hall Archives X X
Ironpool Dam Interior X X
Hammerlorne Grand Hall X X
Hammerlorne Mine, Level 1 X X
Hammerlorne Mine, Level 2 - Vinhalu X X
Hammerlorne Mine, Level 3 X X
Hallows of Abigor X X
Talushorn X X
Talushorn Inner Sanctum X X
Talushorn, Level 2 X X
Talushorn, Level 3 X X
Talushorn, Level 4 X X
So, that's another half-a-dozen (maybe a dozen) out of the current 31 maps that don't currently allow 'camp encounters' that probably should allow for them.
