I was wondering what everyone else thought about this. At the end of Book I there are a few choices you can make,

• Kill Gramuk at the Goblin Citadel and return the Crux of Ages to Bastion Spire
• Accept Gramuk's offer and abandon Thaermore for wealth
• Murder Chancellor Malcolm

But which ending is canon? The storyline was kept mostly a secret during the development of Book I and I doubt that will change for Book II otherwise I'd ask BasiliskWrangler. We know that Thaermore has fallen, because of the Goblins or something more powerful? Games usually go with the good endings, but you can never be certain.

Just noticed the Book II page update...

I think that, since the book II will enable female character, the story will be based on someone else (obviously)... I noticed that heroes was plural in the little text, so we will definetly have a new point of view in the whole story of Eschalon. (Note the red letter saying "beware"... )

In any case, I bet it'll be twisted and surprising! ^^

The story is a continuation of your character's journey. If you choose a female to play in Book II, then we just assume that your character was a female in Book I.

The original consideration of a male-only character for the entire series was to eliminate this issue with switching genders between games. We have since removed any reference to gender-specific elements so that even if you switch genders, the story can still be valid.

As for which ending is canon, either ending works into the storyline of Book II. Either way, Thaermore is destroyed. Can't say much more about it though.

I thought about asking this question in the Book II Q&A Thread, but decided against it believing you'd keep quiet about the story. Thanks for the answer!
