Is magi Surami an astrologer?

Today I learned that "magi" is a real word and that it meant Persian astrologer priests (Zoroastrianism). Does the word mean the same thing in the world of Eschalon or does it have a different meaning? (e.g. just someone who uses magic)

Magi Surami can be found in the temple of Atana in Port Kuudad and he asks you to destroy the Goliath Boreheads in and around Fellpine Forest.

Yes, I assumed he was a cleric of some sort since he was in a temple.
