Beginner question, I'm sure. How do I get passed the Guards by Boardertown? I saw another post that said I would need a note when I approached the guards. Where do I get said note?

There is a quest associated with passing the guarded gate in Bordertown. You get the quest from a man who lives in the Salted Coast area, which is south of Elderhollow. Have you talked to the priest in Aridell yet? That is the beginning of the chain of quests....
