Quick Poll - DVD or CD?
In order to get everything on one disc, we need to move up to a DVD rather than a CD. So, place your vote!

I always preferred fewer disks so I'll go with DVD, though I'm going to wait until Books I, II, and III are bundled together before buying any hard media.

DVD is fine with me too. I won't wait for the whole trilogy, I'll buy two discs right away. One for me and one for my brother.

I'd definitely pop for even more for a DVD with everything on it.
I feel bad, because it means that it'll be sticking it even more to the college kids with no money.
But Basilisk Games needs to think about it's own bottom line, so I think BW should do whatever's best, ultimately, for Basilisk Games on the CD vs. DVD question...

DVD for me. Seems like there wouldnt be too many PC's left out there that cant read a DVD. Heck my is over 5 years old and has one.

Re: Quick Poll - DVD or CD?
Haven't seen a disc reader in a PC that was "CD-only" in many, many years. Hell, my current PC will even read Blu-ray and HD-DVD.
So sure, bring on the DVD!
...and then use that as an excuse to include even more extras... such as a "making of" video!
[And there's gotta be SOMEONE who can stamp out some cloth maps for you to include in "special editions" for those of us looking to throw even more bucks your way...]

Re: Quick Poll - DVD or CD?
I would like a DVD so us linux users can have some media too!
Either way, I will be buying Book 2. I really liked Book 1, and it runs great on linux. Unfortunately, there weren't anymore CDs to buy when I found Eschalon Book 1. The download version worked great though. Really looking forward to May 26.

Iam buying the download version but if i didnt i would certainly go for the DVD version. It less hassle and most likely cheaper to produce....

Re: Quick Poll - DVD or CD?
After having a CD-ROM jam in my regular drive I got an external one so it would be easier to remove the next time it happened. They are fairly cheap and do both DVD and CD.

Re: Quick Poll - DVD or CD?
Looks pretty much like a landslide.
I've updated the purchase page. We added $1 on to the cost to cover additional duplication expenses. Also clarified how Book II will be sold:
The FULL VERSION will be available for download to everyone, but it will have just a limited play area. You purchase a Registration Key to unlock the complete game.
For DVDs, you place your order and will get a Registration Code. Use it to unlock the game that you download, or just wait for your DVD to arrive. Even if you install from the DVD, you will need your Registration Code to unlock the game once it is on your hard drive. The Reg Code will not be printed in your DVD case, so save your email.
There is no form of DRM on the DVD or the digital download. The game can be installed on any number of computers you want, the installation files and DVD can be backed-up, and you do not need an internet connection to play.
[EDIT] I just noticed that the purchase page might have the old graphics cached...hit refresh on your browser to reload the graphics.

Re: Quick Poll - DVD or CD?
We use a flat rate Shipping & Handling fee of $4.00 everywhere in the world. That pays for postage costs, packaging supplies (padded mailers & labels), and handling (paying our part-time help to package the discs up, label them, and take them to the Post Office).iamrichard wrote:nice dvd box!

The final cost of each DVD will come to $39.95, the same as Book I was over two years ago. We didn't even adjust for inflation.
Re: Quick Poll - DVD or CD?
Awesome! (As usual) Definately worth an extra dollar.
Many thanks for ignoring inflation. It's a big help these days.
I will definately be buying the dvd ASAP. Thanks BW!

Im assuming even if we buy from your directly it helps increase your sales to get book II on the popular download sites.
I used Direct2drive sometimes and they have book I on there so I will send them an email asking if they are going to have Book II.
